These delightful Honey Almond Squares are a perfect blend of sweetness and nuttiness. Follow this simple recipe and enjoy a delicious treat at home!

Ingredients

  • 1 Duncan Hines white pudding cake mix
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 1/4 c. alfalfa honey
  • 3 to 4 oz. sliced almonds

Baking Instructions

  1. Bake cake as directed on package in 13 x 9-inch pan. Cool. Whip cream cheese until smooth. Add honey. Spread mixture over cake. Sprinkle with almonds. Store in refrigerator.

Let me tell you about the time I decided to take on the Herculean task of creating honey almond squares. Not just any squares, mind you, but ones that would make your tastebuds do a happy little jig.

Our cast of characters for this tale include the versatile Duncan Hines white pudding cake mix, the smooth and creamy cream cheese (which had been lounging at room temperature, as it should), the sweet and sticky alfalfa honey, and last, but no less important, our crispy, crunchy sliced almonds.

The Birth of the Cake

I started by giving life to our cake mix. The cake mix, who had been waiting patiently in its box, was ready for its moment of glory. Following the instructions on the package, I poured the mix into a 13 x 9-inch pan and popped it into the oven. Now, baking requires patience, a virtue I don’t have in spades. So, I spent the next half an hour pacing around my kitchen like a nervous parent outside the delivery room. Once the cake was baked and cooled (it’s important to let the cake chill, literally), it was time for the next act.

Enter the Cream Cheese

The cream cheese, oh the cream cheese! It was time for it to shine. I whipped it until it was as smooth as a jazz tune on a summer night. But it wasn’t done yet. It was missing its partner in crime – the alfalfa honey. A quarter cup of this liquid gold was all it took to transform the cream cheese into something truly magical.

The Grand Finale

The stage was set. Our cake was ready. The cream cheese and honey duo was waiting in the wings. I spread the cream cheese mixture over the cake, covering every inch. But what’s a honey almond square without the almonds, right? So, I sprinkled the sliced almonds over the cream cheese like confetti at a victory parade.
