I’ve always believed that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and what better way to start your day than with a hearty Ham Cheese Oven Omelet? This recipe is a personal favorite of mine, not only for its delicious taste but also for its simplicity and versatility. The combination of smoked ham, cheddar cheese, and seasoned eggs creates a tantalizing flavor that will leave your taste buds begging for more. Originating from the classic French cuisine, the omelet has become a beloved dish worldwide. This version, baked in the oven, provides a fluffy and satisfying texture, a perfect match with the smoky ham and sharp cheddar. Whether you are cooking for a sunday brunch or a weekday breakfast, this recipe is sure to impress. What I love about this recipe is that it’s so easy to make, it’s practically fail-proof! And the best part? It’s a great way to use up leftover ham or any other meat you have on hand. Join me as we dive into the world of omelets and discover the joy of cooking this simple, yet satisfying dish.

The Great Ham Cheese Oven Omelet Quest

Hello there, fellow foodies! Now, I know what you’re thinking. “An omelet in the oven? Is this some sort of culinary blasphemy?” But bear with me here. What I’m about to share is a game-changer, a revolution, a… well, let’s just dive in.

The Gathering of Ingredients

First things first, we need to gather the troops. We’re talking **8 eggs**, **1 c. milk**, **1 (3 oz.) pkg. smoked, sliced ham, beef or corned beef**, torn into small pieces, **3 Tbsp. finely chopped onion**, **1/2 tsp. seasoned salt**, and **1 c. Cheddar cheese**. Now, I personally went for the beef because, well, I believe in living life on the edge. And by “the edge,” I mean the edge of my kitchen counter.

The Prelude to the Main Event

Once we’ve gathered our brave soldiers, it’s time to start the battle. And by battle, I mean beating eggs, milk, and seasoned salt with a whisk until they’re begging for mercy. But hey, no one ever said cooking was for the faint-hearted.

Speaking of hearts, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the onions in this recipe. They’re the unsung heroes, really. They add a touch of pungency that makes your taste buds sit up and pay attention. And let’s not forget the tears shed while chopping them. If that’s not a symbol of dedication, I don’t know what is.

Into the Oven, Out of the Comfort Zone

The next step is stirring in the remaining ingredients. This is where the Cheddar cheese comes in. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve always harbored a deep, profound love for cheese. So profound that I’m pretty sure I was a mouse in my past life.

Once everything is mixed and mingling, pour it into a greased oblong 12 x 7 1/2 x 2-inch dish or square 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish. Then, with a deep breath and a final glance, send it off to the oven.

The recipe calls for a 325° oven, and I’ll be honest, I had to resist the urge to crank it up to 400°. But, as they say, patience is a virtue. Besides, I’ve found that the anticipation of waiting for that golden brown top is half the fun.

The Final Countdown

Now comes the hardest part. Waiting. For 40 to 45 minutes, you’ve got to play the waiting game. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Once the time is up and the omelet is set, the top should be a glorious golden brown. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the triumphant fanfare as you pull it out of the oven.

The Taste Test

Finally, the moment of truth. The first bite. It’s everything you hoped it would be. The eggs are fluffy, the beef is savory, the onions provide the perfect crunch, and the cheese… oh, the cheese. It’s like a gooey, melted blanket of joy.

So there you have it, folks. Our quest for the perfect Ham Cheese Oven Omelet is complete. And remember, cooking is all about having fun, making a mess, and enjoying the fruits (or in this case, the eggs) of your labor. Until next time, happy cooking!
